Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to join us in our collegial and dynamic Entrepreneurship program within the Management and Entrepreneurship Department. The ideal candidate will deliver quality research and teaching in Entrepreneurship. This position requires a completed Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship (or another relevant field such as OB, or Strategy) and a proven track record in related research and teaching.
The Management and Entrepreneurship Department consists of 16 full-time scholars and educators. Our faculty members have published in top-tier journals such as Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, Journal of Applied Psychology, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Academy of Management Learning and Education, and Organization Science. Our commitment to research is further evidenced by the availability of internal grants and benefits afforded to faculty research initiatives.
Teaching is also an integral part of this position. We focus on experiential learning and integrate Boston’s entrepreneurial ecosystem into our curriculum. Course load consists of five classes during the academic year (four classes the first year) with a typical average of 30 students per class and minimal course preparations. We offer courses in the following areas: opportunity recognition, design thinking, entrepreneurial finance, crowdfunding, legal concerns for entrepreneurs, small business management, family business, franchising, corporate entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, green and sustainable business, and a senior project capstone course. The undergraduate program focuses on entrepreneurial thinking in startups or larger existing organizations, as well as launching new ventures. In addition, our faculty members offer courses within the core MBA program, which focus on entrepreneurial thinking and innovation in medium to large organizations. The Management and Entrepreneurship Department is known for its collaborative and supportive culture, featuring research brown bags, idea incubators, and other regular social events. New faculty members receive guidance, support, and mentoring from experienced faculty members in terms of best research and teaching practices. Collaboration within and between departments is common and encouraged.
